I am writing to clarify information and correct inaccuracies in the article about Title IX in the Feb. 5 issue of The College Voice.
Within a week of the announcement of Associate Dean of Equity and Inclusion and acting Title IX coordinator B. Afeni McNeely Cobham’s departure, students gathered in Cro to discuss the shortcomings in Conn’s approach to upholding Title IX requirements.
As Spring 2018 begins, it remains unknown when Conn will get a permanent, full-time Title IX coordinator.
There are some things that every college student should know, regardless of what institution they attend: stay on top of reading assignments, don’t trust drinks mixed in buckets, and know how to utilize Title IX. This last point came under the spotlight when the Obama administration enacted several changes on the federal level as to how the policy would be implemented on college campuses.
