Ten years since its predecessor, this sequel is a mixed bag if there ever was one. Everything that works about Doubletap is what worked for the first film: fun, dumb comedy, and entertaining zombie-killing set pieces. However, the other fifty percent is bogged down by unnecessary character conflict and melodrama, as well as the introduction of some unbelievably irritating attempts at new comedic sidekicks. If you’re interested because of your feelings toward the clearly superior first film, my advice is to wait until this is on TV or streaming, and definitely don’t pay for it. If you want zombie-comedy right now, either rewatch the first, or check out Shaun of the Dead. •
