The Connecticut College men’s basketball team emerged victorious on Saturday, defeating the Mammoths of Amherst College 62 – 47. The Camels led the majority of this NESCAC matchup and improved their record to 4-5 in conference, 12-11 overall. Connecticut College was paced by Cam Schainfeld ‘25, who recorded a game-high 19 points and tacked on four rebounds, three steals, and three assists. Also contributing to the team’s success was Elias Espinosa ‘26, who achieved a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds on the night. Andrew Hartel ‘25 was also a key contributor for the Camels, adding 13 points and four rebounds of his own. The first half of the game was filled with dimes from Connecticut College, with Schainfeld ‘25 going a perfect 3-for-3 from downtown. The Camels entered halftime up 27-23. The team came out fired up and continued to build their lead throughout the second half. Espinosa ‘26 drained a three on the opening play and set the stage for the rest of his team. On the defensive side, Conn was able to hold Amherst to only a 29-percent field goal shooting and 4-for-18 from long range. The Camels look to close out the regular season on a high note, with their last home game against Bates College on February 14 at 7:00 p.m.
