Written by Luke Corless:

After a difficult start to the season, dropping three straight games to NESCAC rivals, the Connecticut College women’s tennis team went 4-2 in Orlando, capping off the competition with a 6-1 win against an Ithaca College team on a dominant two-game win streak. The competition started with an Evin Cosar ‘28 and Maya Kowalska ‘27 6-1 victory in the first doubles match. This was followed by Caitlin Cass ‘25 and Mary Ella Prendergast ‘25 pulling out a closer 6-4 victory, and the doubles sweep was confirmed by Sana Bhat ‘26 and Marylove Reynolds ‘28 in their own 6-3 win. The singles portion started slightly rockier, with a devastating loss in the first matchup. The rest of the team was able to rally, starting with Kowalska squeaking out a win in the second set on a 10-point tiebreaker in the third set. Cosar had the cleanest victory, only dropping two games in the third frame, while Lily Kerachsky ‘26 and Prendergast each only dropped four games in the fourth and fifth matchups. The Camel’s outstanding performance was capped off with an Asahi Goods ‘28 victory at No. 6. Now improved to 4-5, the Camels will be looking to continue this momentum in order to roll over a struggling Smith roster before ending their season with seven straight NESCAC games going into the postseason.
