Letter from the Editor – Spring Edition 5 2025

Sun is shining on campus as the spring cherry blossoms are blooming and daffodils and dandelions sprout up all around. The days are longer now than they were just a month ago but they seem to pass by quicker than ever as my fellow seniors and I approach our last few weeks at Connecticut College. Despite our nerves, the end of the semester is an exciting time for all students as we recognize the hard work and achievements we have made and set ourselves up for new opportunities in the next year.

Here at TCV, we are excited to announce our newly elected Co-Editors-in-Chief for the 2025-26 school year, current Arts Editor Mia Penasa and returning Co-Editor-in-Chief Kevin Lieue! Current Sports Editor Lilla Kate Tucker will be next year’s Managing Editor! Those of us graduating as TCV alumni are confident the paper will thrive under their leadership.

Recognizing other achievements among our staff, we are proud and thrilled to include our own Managing Editor Davi Schulman among the Class of 2025 Langer Scholars! Learn more about this class’s Langer Scholars in Lieue’s news article.

In other campus news included in this edition, News Editors Theo Andres and Evie Lockwood Mullaney cover the dining staff and Local 217 rally for their sick pay petition, Cruciverbalist Erica Smith follows the Women’s and Nonbinary Rugby team to the Beast of the East tournament, and Penasa recounts the moving experience of the Dance Department’s honors thesis concert.

Also in this edition, Staff Writer Elaine Sandoval ‘28 writes about Peru’s democratic backslide from her own well-educated and relevant perspective, bringing the reader in on an incredibly important story unfolding right now. Opinions Editor Mia Whipple lightheartedly considers the stench of manure around campus and its function as a deeper reminder of our own practices of environmental stewardship.

Meanwhile in Sports, Staff Writer Evan Young ‘26 covers topical conversations in baseball while Corless writes about this year’s March Madness Championship.

Whether you have time during this end-of-semester crunch to read every article or just one, be sure to check out Smith’s crossword and wordsearch for this edition—give yourself a brain break before locking in for your finals!

It is bittersweet as I recognize that this will be my last Letter from the Editor. It has been a pleasure and a joy to be a part of TCV these past few years. Thank you to TCV’s staff and readers for all the memories.

Farewell,

Adrien
