Tucked away inside Cro, a new student-run spot has been transforming into one of the most popular gathering places on campus: Humphrey’s Pub. Since its opening on September 11th, Humphrey’s has been a universal-purpose hub where students can study, hang out, sip drinks, or even enjoy some live music. Whether you’re in the mood for some Boba, a late-night chicken wing snack, or just a chill place to socialize, Humphrey’s has quickly earned a reputation for its good vibes and welcoming energy, offering students like me to relax by the bar with my friends or people-watch on the 2nd floor balcony right outside, all the while listening to comforting music.
Who can go?
Humphrey’s is open to the campus community and aims to serve a wide range of students. During the day, it’s a relaxed hangout spot with ample seating, perfect for study sessions or casual conversations with friends. In the evenings, though, the atmosphere shifts. After 8 pm, Humphrey’s begins serving alcohol to students over 21, creating a bar-like environment for students. The dual-purpose approach has helped Humphrey’s appeal to different groups of students depending on the time of day.
What’s on the Menu?
One of Humphrey’s most talked-about items is its boba tea collection. Flavors range from the refreshing Dragon Strawberry Chiller to the tropical Pina Colada Smoothie, as well as the sweet and creamy Salted Caramel Milk Tea. While the flavors are undeniably creative, some students raise eyebrows at the price- $9 for a boba drink. “It’s definitely expensive,” one student admitted, “but the flavors are delicious, so it’s worth the money.”
In addition to drinks, Humphrey’s offers food through its own app. Options like chicken wings have proven popular for late-night cravings. The bar also leans into variety, offering both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to fit any mood.
Hours and Atmosphere
Humphrey’s isn’t your standard campus cafe; it has its own rhythm. The bar is open Thursday and Saturday from 4 pm to 1 am, with alcohol service starting at 8 pm. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, it’s open from 4 pm to 10 pm. Humphrey’s is closed on Sundays.
The later hours give students a unique late-night option on campus, especially on weekends. The bar also features a balcony, adding to its appeal as a spot to relax with friends when the weather is nice.
Student Opinions
Ask anyone who has spent their time at Humphrey’s, and you’re likely to hear the same feedback: the vibes are good. The comfortable seating, upbeat atmosphere, and occasional live music help create a sense of community. Several students have mentioned that the staff is amazing, making everyone feel welcome and accounted for. “Humphrey’s is more than just a bar- it’s a place to connect,” one student said. Many students have revealed that Humphrey’s has a good balance between being social and laid-back, which is what any good bar should have.
Why Humphrey’s Matters
Beyond drinks and snacks, Humphrey’s fills an important role in campus culture. It’s a flexible, multipurpose venue that can adapt to student needs- study hall, social space, music venue, or bar. In many ways, it reflects the energy and diversity of student life itself. As a first-year student, Humphrey’s is a place where I can unwind after a long day of class and practice, do some homework, and indulge in delicious food and drinks, and it’s even better with my friends sitting next to me.
For many, Humphrey’s also represents a step forward in creating more student-centered spaces. It gives students ownership of their social environment, while also offering something unique compared to other on-campus options. The combination of good vibes, varied menu items, and flexible hours makes it a welcome addition to campus life
Final Thoughts
Humphrey’s Bar has only been open for a short time, but it has already carved out a reputation as a go-to campus destination. Yes, the boba might be pricey, and not every drink will land with every student. But the comfortable seating, student-run energy, and vibrant atmosphere give it something special. Whether you’re stopping by for a $9 boba, a plate of wings, or just a place to study with friends, Humphrey’s delivers on its promise of good vibes.
