Welcome back! This week’s topics include: the new New England Patriots quarterback, Drake Maye and his middle school sweetheart, Halloween Night from Dancing with the Stars, and (another) new couple.
Drake Maye, a 23-year-old from North Carolina and recent addition to the Patriots football team as their quarterback, has entered headlines with his notable recent performance for the team. One statistic in particular might be the most jarring-that his single-game completion percentage of 91.3% has now surpassed Tom Brady’s record stats of 88.5%. With Brady as a New England and NFL major celebrity, Maye breaking his record in just two seasons of being in the NFL is impressive to say the least. Anyway, enough math! Maye is also winning in his personal life, having recently married his middle school sweetheart, Ann Michael Hudson (now Ann Michael Maye). After the Patriots’ last season, Maye proposed to Hudson in January, and the long-time lovebirds tied the knot in June.
Another week goes by on Dancing with the Stars, and another dancing pair is eliminated! This week’s victims were Jen Affleck (from the reality show The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives) and Jan Ravnik (former backup dancer for Taylor Swift’s “Eras” Tour). Week seven’s theme was Halloween Night; each pair dressed in an elaborate outfit to correlate with their assigned spooky song, with some acquiring multiple scores of tens from the judges. Unfortunately, one of the contestants, Elaine Hendrix (who played Meredith in The Parent Trap), suffered an injury during rehearsals and was unable to perform, but the votes from viewers were able to save her spot for week eight!
In other news, a completely unexpected couple hit the headlines this week as pictures emerged of Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau on Perry’s Instagram, confirming their relationship rumours. The pop star and the former prime minister of Canada have both been previously married, and each has at least one child with an ex-partner. Fan speculation on this relationship seems to be nothing more than shock at the interesting pairing of the two, due to their immensely different occupations.
