Spring 2026 Edition 1 – News Shorts

  • On January 30, the activist organization New London Immigrant Defense, in partnership with others including CT Democratic Socialists of America, CT Party for Socialism and Liberation, New London Green Party, and Hearing Youth Voices, held an anti-ICE protest and vigil for Alex Pretti, and others who have been killed by ICE agents in Minneapolis. The protest and vigil featured speakers including New London City Council member Shineika Fareus, and shut down the intersection outside City Hall, with many Connecticut College students, faculty, and staff in attendance.
  • As a part of celebrating Black History Month, a pop-up exhibition from the Ruby & Calvin Fletcher African American History Museum, in collaboration with the Black Student Union, will be on display in Shain Library throughout February. The exhibition, according to the Fletcher Museum, examines “how Black stories have been told– and who has been trusted to tell them.”
  • CREDO consultants are back on campus and hosting more sessions to hear what students want for the future of the student experience and campus, including feedback on what a future new residence hall could look like. There are four sessions during the week of February 10-14, for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Dining workers at Harris Refectory have hosted short protests and chanting sessions over the past few weeks, and are wearing pins reading “Stop the Cuts,” in reaction to conflicts over ongoing scheduling cuts from Chartwells.
