After a successful close to the regular season, Connecticut College Men’s Ice Hockey is advancing to the NESCAC Quarterfinal against Hamilton College on Feb. 28. After a 5-2 win over Colby College this weekend, Conn clinched the 8th seed heading into the tournament. Quinn Kennedy ‘27, Will Lawrence ‘28, and Matt Lewis ‘28 picked up assists after an early score. The two teams traded chances for the rest of the period but Kellen Beauton ‘26 defended well, keeping the Camels in front 1-0 after the first period. Early in the second period, Pete Stanger ‘27 scored another goal before a Colby comeback score a few minutes later. But with just three minutes remaining in the period, Ryan McKenna ‘29 put in another short-handed goal to bring them up 3-1. The Mules pressed forward in the third period, knocking down a three-quarter ice shot and making it a one score game. In the final minutes, the Camels clutched up as Kennedy scored his second of the game and Reece Corday ‘29 scored off the breakaway pushing the lead to 5-2. While Colby outshot Conn 32-24, they couldn’t put it together in the end, allowing the Camels to advance to the NESCAC tournament. Conn concludes the regular season with a 10-13-1 mark overall and 6-11-1 mark in NESCAC games. The Camels will play #1 seeded Hamilton in the Quarterfinal in just a few days.
