On Sunday, April 19, the men’s and women’s tennis teams competed at home at the Luce Field House against Bates College on senior day. The men fell 5-2 despite a win in the No. 2 doubles spot from the duo of Nikhil Agarwal ‘27 and Wolf Sohlberg ‘28 and singles wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 spots from Agarwal and Sohlberg. The duo won 7-6 against the Bates duo of Eric Diop and Josh Maller. In singles, Agarwal won 6-4, 6-3 over Phillippe Kosyagin while Sohlberg took down Theo Sardain 7-6, 6-4. Seniors Gavin Anderson ‘26, Maximo Gulla ‘26, Alexander Stevens ‘26, and Sigmund Winiecki ‘26 were all honored following the match. On the women’s side, the Camels took down the Bobcats in a convincing 6-1 win. The Camels swept the Bobcats in doubles, with the duos of Maya Kowalska ‘27 and Evin Cosar ‘28, Sana Bhat ‘27 and Asahi Goods ‘28, and Marylove Reynolds ‘28 and Mary Ella Prendergast ‘27 winning, 6-0, 7-5, and 6-2 respectively. In singles, Kowalska defeated Iris Westmoreland in straight sets at the No. 1 position. After a narrow 2-1 loss from Prendergast, Goods took a three set win, 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 to put the Camels in control. Lily Kerachsky ‘26 stormed back from being a set down to take a 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 win over Avni Bakre at No. 4. spot. Cosar and Sydney Concepcion ‘29 both added wins in the No. 5 and 6 spots, 6-3, 6-3, and 2-6, 3-6, and 1-0 respectively to cement the Camels triumph. Following the match, seniors Bhat and Kerachsky were honored, as the Camels picked up their second NESCAC win of the season. The two NESCAC wins marked the most victories for the women’s tennis team since the 2017-18 season.
