- On Monday night, April 27, Campus Safety and Emergency Operations Director Mary Savage shared that there was an active threat, posted to the anonymous social media app Yik Yak, under investigation involving Humphrey’s pub, warranting need to close Crozier-Williams student center and enter into lockdown. This threat was resolved as of 8:05pm the same night. At the time of the incident, Savage communicated that New London Police Department, Campus Safety, and the FBI were all involved in searching for the individual responsible for the threat. Campus gates were closed, restricting entry on to campus.
- Popular rumors circulating campus claim that the original Yik Yak post stated: “9 shot dead in Humphrey’s massacre tn fuck campo.” The incident comes in the wake of a recent public-facing student health crisis in front of Shain library. It further comes at a similar time in the semester to the Fall 2025 Brown University shooting, just an hour from the Connecticut College campus. Over the coming summers, locks will be installed on classroom doors to protect against any potential active shooting threat.
