Letter from the Editor

It’s been a doozy of a couple weeks since the last edition of the paper. From the national election to the All-College Symposium to Connecticut’s state of emergency since Oct. 25 and to the Camels’ victory as NESCAC men’s soccer champions, notable events persist in occurring. Some have come as welcome celebrations and some—certainly—have not. Hopefully, TCV is a welcome celebration.

On national events, Managing Editor Davi Schulman covers the Conn community’s reaction to the presidential election in News while an anonymous Opinions writer pens “How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Mr. Trump: Cognitive Dissonance, Culpability, and Redemption Under Despotism.”

The Arts section shines this edition with Co-Editor-in-Chief Kevin Lieue writing about the Dance Club’s sold-out show, “Structural Noise,” and Schulman with her refreshing perspective on reality TV as a refuge from the stress of college life as well as a forum for sociological education. Arts Editor Mia Penasa covers the David Dorfman Dance premier of “Truce Songs.” And finally, first-time TCV writer Becker Kotob ‘28 shines a much-appreciated spotlight on hip-hop group The Pharcyde.

In Sports, Sports Editor Lilla Kate Tucker provides a recap on the 2024 World Series and Sam Dickerman ‘27 predicts positive prospects for the WNBA team Indiana Fever. Sports Editor Luke Corless celebrates rising stars on the women’s volleyball team: Mila Chan ‘28 and Josie Kelly ‘28 in our recurring Camel of the Edition column.

For a change of pace, feel free to relax with our crossword, sudoku, or word search located in the final pages of this edition.

We are selling beanies ($12) and stickers ($1.50) as supplies last. If interested, please reach out by email or through our Instagram! We’re in the midst of our last writing cycle of the semester, but it’s never too late to write for The College Voice. Feel free to reach out to thecollegevoice@conncoll.edu or any of the members of our Editorial Board in our masthead to the right.

Live, Laugh, Love TCV,
Adrien
Co-Editor-in-Chief
